Information about the program
Four-day intensive workshop...
To
provide you with the foundation for your recovery, and to allow you
to fully understand the techniques used in the program, you will
attend a four-day- live-in intensive workshop. This is a serious
four day program, you will work hard and find it empowering, not
only learning the techniques to overcome your stutter, but will gain
an understanding of the physiology and psychology of stuttering and
how to overcome some of the obstacles that you may have encountered
throughout your life.
Six week
structured follow-up support plan
You
will receive a workbook that has a structured support plan specially
tailored for you. You will sit down with your coach and discuss your
speaking goals, plan how to attain those goals, and then help you
action them. The first six weeks is the key to your recovery.
12 months follow-up support
Comprehensive support is provided for the first 12 months. We don’t
just teach you the technique and tools and then let you go your own
way; to ensure your success in addition to your coach, you have
access to other graduates and support staff. There is an
international phone-list of coaches from around the world that you
can rely on to practice and hone your skills/tools and listen to
them sharing their recovery experiences.
Support Groups
On-going support in a structured support group environment, you can
attend as little or as much as you feel is best for your recovery.
Not only will you find it excellent for your speech, you will make
some great friends and contacts as well.
Follow-up courses
You
can return on as many intensive workshops as you like. These
workshops are an opportunity to consolidate skills, develop a deeper
understanding of the techniques, and assist others who are attending
their first intensive workshop. You will be an experienced member of
the McGuire program who can provide inspiration and support to
others.
On-line support group
There is a world-wide internet discussion group where you can make
contacts with hundreds of graduates and discuss various recovery
issues and get more information about a variety of topics. It has
voice, text and email facilities.
Cost
The
program fee is $1250 due on the second day of the course. If
required payment plans area available.
Life-long Membership
The
lifetime membership entitles you access to all program resources
including intensive and refresher courses, support groups, and the
phone lists.
Once you have attended a McGuire Program Intensive four-day
workshop, you have the opportunity to become a primary coach,
consequently enabling you to learn more about the program and help
others, improving your own speech along the way.
